Medical-Aid Co., Ltd. Conflict Minerals Procurement Policy
Conflict Minerals
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and surrounding countries in central Africa are rich in mineral resources such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold. While local communities mine these ores and trade them internationally to earn valuable foreign currency, part of this revenue has been used to fund activities that fuel regional conflicts, violate human rights, enable money laundering, and support armed groups. For this reason, these minerals are referred to as “conflict minerals.”
Medical-Aid Co., Ltd. Procurement Policy
Medical-Aid Co., Ltd. is committed to responsible procurement practices to ensure that the materials we source do not contribute to the activities of armed groups in these regions. In line with this policy, we respect the “OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas” and are actively conducting in-depth investigations based on its principles.
In addition, we request that our suppliers use the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) developed by EICC/GeSI to disclose information on the country of origin of the minerals and the supply chain. We also encourage procurement from Conflict-Free Smelters (CFS).
*CFS (Conflict-Free Smelter): Refers to smelters certified by the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI), an organization established by EICC/GeSI, as not being involved in conflicts in the region.
