February 7, 2004: Public Symposium on Electromagnetic Interference in Cardiac Pacemakers

● February 7, 2004
Notice of Public Symposium on Electromagnetic Interference in Cardiac Pacemakers

In recent years, it has become evident that various types of electromagnetic waves, including those emitted by mobile phones, may affect cardiac pacemakers. As electromagnetic waves have become part of daily life, information on “electromagnetic interference with pacemakers” is widespread. However, much of this information lacks accuracy, leaving many pacemaker patients feeling anxious in their daily routines.

This public symposium was therefore held to provide accurate information on “what pacemakers and electromagnetic waves are” and “how electromagnetic waves affect pacemakers.” The event targeted not only pacemaker users, but also the general public, physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, pacemaker-related companies, and businesses involved with electricity and radio waves.
