Electromagnetic Field Measurement of IH Cooking Heaters
Electromagnetic Field Measurement of IH Cooking Heaters
Objective | Method | Results | Discussion | Conclusion |
Objective
This test measured the frequency distribution of electromagnetic waves emitted from IH cooking heaters in order to develop electromagnetic shielding materials with high shielding performance against these emissions.
Method
The IH cooking heater and antenna were positioned as shown in Figures 1 and 2. A 65mm diameter loop antenna was used and connected to a spectrum analyzer (ADVANTEST R3132). The measured frequency range was from 10 kHz to 1 MHz.

Figure 2: Side view of installation position
Results
The measurement results showed that the frequency with the highest intensity of electromagnetic leakage from the IH cooking heater was around 22 kHz.

Discussion
It was found that IH cooking heaters emit a wide range of electromagnetic waves centered around 20–30 kHz, extending beyond 300 kHz.
Conclusion
IH cooking heaters emit strong low-frequency electromagnetic waves around 20 kHz. To protect pacemakers, shielding against these low-frequency EM waves is essential. Our EMS Panel has electromagnetic shielding capabilities across a wide range from static magnetic fields to GHz frequencies.
