3Cs Prevention! Proper Mask Usage Based on the Situation
There are various opinions regarding mask-wearing as a preventive measure against infection, which can often cause confusion among users. Below are the commonly cited effective and ineffective outcomes of wearing masks:
<Effective Outcomes>
- 1. If a person infected with the virus wears a mask, it reduces the distance droplets can travel.
- 2. Wearing a mask helps prevent viruses on the hands from reaching the mouth or nose.
- 3. While limited, masks can help block virus-containing droplets.
<Ineffective Outcomes>
- 1. Masks are largely ineffective at removing airborne viral droplets.
- 2. If an infected person is not wearing a mask, wearing one yourself may not prevent infection.
- 3. Wearing non-antibacterial, non-antiviral masks for extended periods may increase the risk of infection.
Based on the above, the effectiveness of masks is limited, and avoiding the “Three Cs” (Closed spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places, and Close-contact settings) is considered more effective. The standard for social distancing is 2 meters in Japan and 1 meter or more according to WHO.
Taking this into account, we have created a chart summarizing appropriate mask usage and usage of Ag+ mask sanitizing sheets according to different situations. Although this guideline is independently compiled by our company, we hope you find it helpful.
