MG VestQ&A
About the product contents
QCan I choose the size?
AWe have a variety of sizes available, including S, M, L, and LL. (Please see "Sizes.") For those who cannot fit into ready-made sizes, we will make clothes to fit you.
QIsn't it heavy to wear?
AThe MG vest weighs around 200g, which is lighter than a short-sleeved polo shirt, so the weight is not an issue at all. (Short-sleeved polo shirts weigh more than 250g.)
QThe EMS pad feels like it's floating.
ABend the EMS pad to fit your body. (See "How to wear" No. 4.)
QDoes MG Vest VIP accept nursing care insurance, subsidies, or grants?
A■It is not covered by nursing care insurance. ■Subsidies of 20,000 yen will be provided to pacemaker and ICD patients living in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Minato and Sumida Wards in Tokyo, and Nanbu Town, Aomori Prefecture. It is not currently available in other municipalities or countries. ■Subsidies will be paid by the Japan Organization for Employment of the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities, and Job Seekers (JEmployment Support Agency) to cover up to two-thirds of the purchase price if used in the workplace. For more information, please check the conditions and request materials.
QThe MG Vest VIP has a lifespan of two years, but is it possible to easily check its electromagnetic wave protection performance?
AWhen the warranty period expires, we will inform you of the expiration date of the product. Please note that the manufacturer's warranty is for two years.
QMy pacemaker, ICD, etc. are implanted in my abdomen. This is different from the usual implantation position, but is this OK?
AWhen ordering from our shop, please select "Abdominal" from the "Pacemaker/ICD, etc. Position" options. After confirming your order, we will contact you by phone to confirm the exact implantation location and then begin production. This will take some time as the sewing will be done from scratch.
QMy elementary school-aged child has a pacemaker/ICD implanted in his abdomen. The adult S size is too big and the pads don't fit properly. Will this be okay?
AFor those who cannot fit the standard sizes, we can make a custom size to fit your body. We can also accommodate the implantation position, so please feel free to contact us.
How to handle the product
QHow should I wear it? Over or under my clothes?
AThe performance is the same whether you wear it under or over your clothes. If you wear it under your clothes, you will feel warm, but if you are working outdoors on a hot summer day, you will feel hot, so if you wear it over your clothes, the heat will be reduced.
QWhat happens if I don't store my MG Vest in a bag or seal it?
ASilver fiber slowly oxidizes, chlorinates, and sulfides. Oxidation is more likely to occur when exposed to air for a long time, chlorination is more likely to occur near the sea, and sulfide is more likely to occur in hot spring towns and other areas where the sulfur content in the air is high. When silver fiber oxidizes, chlorinates, or sulfides, the conductivity of the silver fiber decreases, and the electromagnetic wave protection effect decreases.
QHow do I wash and care for it?
APlease see "Washing, care and storage instructions".
QI washed it wrong, what should I do?
AThe method of washing varies depending on the method used, so please contact us directly.
QI plan to wear the MG Vest VIP every day, but would it be better to buy a new one every year?
AIf you wear it every day, we recommend replacing it every year. Even if it is normal clothing, the fibers will be damaged if worn every day for a year. Also, please be careful when washing. If you wear it for more than two hours a day regardless of the season, or even if you wear it for less than two hours a day, please wash it once a week according to our washing instructions.
QCan the MG Vest VIP be worn over or under underwear?
AThe MG vest is lined with underwear fabric, so it can be worn either under or over underwear.
QIs there a way to check if performance has decreased? Also, are there any other symptoms that could indicate when it is time to replace the product?
ABecause it is made of silver fiber, it will darken in appearance as chlorination and sulfurization progresses. Past usage records have confirmed that it will maintain its performance for over a year even when used almost daily. If used once or twice a week and stored properly (washed and sealed in a special airtight bag), it can be used for about two years. For these reasons, you can use it with peace of mind if you replace the silver fiber vest body every year.
Effects of electromagnetic waves
QI am under work restrictions due to electromagnetic interference from a pacemaker, ICD, etc. Can I continue to work if I wear an MG vest?
AThe electromagnetic environment at work varies widely. Please contact our customer support department to find the electromagnetic wave protection suit that is suitable for your workplace.
QThere is a high-voltage power line (20,000 volts) near my house. How far away do I need to be from the power line to avoid it affecting my pacemaker, ICD, etc.?
APower lines can reach up to 1 million volts, and typical high-voltage types can reach 200,000 volts. Being near such high-voltage power lines may affect pacemakers, ICDs, etc., but unless you actually climb a tower, it is predicted that power lines will not affect pacemakers, ICDs, etc. Pacemaker/ICD handbooks generally state that you should avoid going near high-voltage lines, but this is not a problem in everyday life. We are unable to answer questions about specific safe distances, so please contact the pacemaker/ICD company you are using.
QIs it okay for a family member with an implanted pacemaker, ICD, etc. to sit in the passenger seat of a car with an intelligent key?
AThere have been cases where pacemakers, ICDs, etc. have been affected by electromagnetic waves emitted from door handles, antennas, and indoor antennas that communicate with the intelligent key (smart key). However, the effect was only temporary and was only confirmed when the device was extremely close to the antenna (within 10 cm). Therefore, there is no problem if the device is in a normal position. The smart key itself also emits a signal (radio wave) and communicates with the door handle antenna and indoor antenna. However, since the radio wave is weak, there is little to worry about. It is not recommended to operate the intelligent key by putting it in a breast pocket near the pacemaker, ICD, etc., but there is likely to be little effect if you are just sitting in the passenger seat. If you are worried, you can completely protect yourself by wearing our MG vest.
QWill a car navigation system affect pacemakers, ICDs, etc.?
AThere is no problem with the car navigation system.
QDoes driving a motorcycle affect pacemakers, ICDs, etc.?
AEven simply riding a motorcycle may cause an increase in your pulse rate if your pacemaker, ICD, etc. uses a rate response function (a function that adjusts your pulse rate according to your physical condition). If your device uses a rate response function, it is best to refrain from riding a motorcycle. When carrying out maintenance or inspections, do not go near the engine when it is running. In addition, going near the on-board wireless antennas of trucks, etc. may affect your pacemaker, ICD, etc. due to the wireless radio waves. The above problems can be avoided by using the MG Vest to prevent electromagnetic interference.。
QIs there a correlation between the engine displacement of a motorcycle and the effects of electromagnetic waves, such that the larger the engine displacement, the stronger the effects?
AElectromagnetic waves from the engine are mainly spark noise generated by the spark plugs. The effect of electromagnetic waves varies depending on the number of cylinders and the condition of the engine cover rather than the displacement.
QWhen I drive a car myself, I turn the starter to start the engine and start driving, but do I need to wear a vest at that time? The instruction manual says that it is not OK to use a starter, so is it pointless to drive while wearing a vest? What about riding in the passenger seat?
AWhen turning the starter motor, a large current flows through the entire car. At the moment you turn it, if you have bradycardia and the pacemaker is working, your pulse will skip a beat. Unless you turn the starter motor on and off repeatedly, even the person himself will not notice if his pulse skips a beat. Also, if you have a natural pulse, the pacemaker is stopped, so there is no effect at all. Our electromagnetic wave protective clothing can prevent this to some extent, but since it is an effect from the entire car, there are cases where it cannot be prevented. However, it is extremely rare for there to be a situation where you do not have a natural pulse and turn the starter motor repeatedly in succession. As long as you pay attention to that point, it can be said that there is no problem even if you do not wear it.
QHow much protection from electromagnetic waves can be achieved by only wearing electromagnetic wave protective clothing (without EMS pads)?
AEMS pads mainly protect against magnetic and low-frequency magnetic fields. Magnetic refers to magnets, but there are many devices that generate low frequencies, such as induction cookers, motors, and power supplies. The vest alone can protect against communication devices such as radios and devices that generate high frequencies, but it cannot protect against low-frequency magnetic fields. To put it in extreme terms, the pads protect against a wide range of waves, from low to high frequencies, so the pads alone can protect against almost anything.
